Well, you get what you pay for really; and there are already open source forum solutions out there...

You're right, though in your point of view, personally, is it worth paying for a "virtual forum"? Don't take that question as an offense, business is business.

Ehm, do you mean the uBBthreads version 6.5.5, for free to download, even though it's with securty errors?

6.5.5 was the last release of the 6.x series, and all known security issues were fixed for that release. However, it's still not a free download, simply for the fact that we always want to be able to support what users are downloading, and we just can't support such an old version.

A'ight. So there's basically no free version to download, just to make it clear - so I'd think about buying, or still hesitating. wink - No chit chat.

And I don't see how providing any version of it would benefit Rick's reputation at all. confused

For anyone interested in evaluating the software I suggest using the sandbox demo extensively.

An interesting point about starting a message board. How long do you plan to run it? A couple years? Longer? I will tell you after running a board for almost 10 years that paying $100 to do an in-depth evaluation will be the least of your problems and is worth the money and time invested. I have bought other message board software (sorry Rick;) ) to test out for possibly switching to, and only after months and months of evaluation would I make a decision, realizing I run a highly popular highly modified board with almost 1 million posts, so a migration or an upgrade is not a minor deal.
