I am trying to get an old board back online for fun/blast from the past. I keep getting 500 errors from my html directory. I can log in to cp.html and view a list of my forums, but not the index/threads from any forum.

any ideas? Thanks in advance...

Update: I can search for old threads and view them if they turn up in my search, it seems like indexing the threads is the only part not working. Thanks!

haha... I'm such an idiot. Of course there weren't any messages posted in the last 10 days.

I couldn't even begin to tell you why a .html is giving a 500. A .cgi, sure, but a .html? check your error log? Should say something.

Odd also is that the I love Campers topic gives an ISE, but the next one down, Eric's Trip new recordings... works just fine.

Is it the indexing giving you the error or trying to access the topics that are? You should be able to view the topics themselves, but if you click on forumdisplay.cgi or Ultimate.cgi you'll get a 500 ISE if the permissions on the files aren't correct or your server isn't setup to run cgi/perl correctly.

I'd reset all permissions on those threads files to 777 and re-try the indexing. A test script came with the old ubb to check permissions on the folders and files - check yours to see the results. I believe it was kept in the same folder as the re-direct scripts
