Has anyone had an issue with the sessions directory getting so large that you can't even access it?

My ubbthreads/sessions directory is massive and whenever I access it through ftp or ssh, it takes forevers and usually times out. I have worked around this by renaming it to sessions2 and creating a new sessions directory for the board to use.

Is this normal? Can I prevent this from happening again? The version is 7.2.2 I believe.

Right now, I've got an ssh window opening and the contents of /sessions2 is being deleted, there must be hundreds of thousands of files in there. It says the directory is 248 megs.
