I'm just curious now as to how UK people are accepted in the USA.
I mean, I know Catherine Zeta Jones' accent from old - and she sounds so odd now speaking with a US accent. Does it sound natural to you guys? Or an affectation?
How about Hugh Lawrie in 'House'? I like this programme, but is his accent convincing to a US audience? (Having heard many US accents on TV, I find it one of the oddest - to my ears.)
Catherine Zeta Jones=Hot Babe but I think because of the Zorro Movies she is thought of as a latino in the USA.
Hugh Lawrie on the other hand never heard of him. I take that back now I was looking at some very old snapshots. He is in a medical tv series here but I hardly ever watch it. My wife does though.

You know what really tweaks my interest is the music groups from the UK. Just to pick on one which is a bad example is Ozzie Osborne. He has a very strong accent or whatever you want to call it. But his recordings sound like he is from the USA. Same goes for other recording artists.

The only way this thread will die is if Rick locks it... And I can't see him doing that as it displays exactly how long threads work in threads (they do!) and unlike classic won't b0g your forum down ...
My wife was telling me about her day at work and she said that she spent 5 minutes trying to remove a full stop (US = period) from a Word doc before she discovered that it was a dead pixel on the monitor!
You think that's funny? About ten years ago my wife's company upgraded from terminals to PC's. They could not figure out how to use a mouse. They called their help desk and they told them just point to the item you want and click the button.
They were holding the mouse in the air and pointing the mouse at the display like it was a tv remote before the figured it out. After I got off the floor laughing, My wife did not speak to me for a few days.

Here is another wife story. If you know what sun tea is.
My wife started a diet several years ago where tea was the basis. But she hated tea. So I suggested Sun tea. Where instead of boiling the water you place the tea bags in ,you place the tea bags in a large mason jar then set the jar outdoors in the sun light for a few hours to make the tea, It is supposed to be less bitter. Well lo and behold I come home after work and see a large jar on top of her car with tea bags in it but no water. It was just to funny but I was blamed for not explaining that water was needed in the jar.
I hope my wife does not see this post. If she does, Oh well in the dog house again.

I have watched the series House since it's start. I never knew Hugh Lawrie is British... then recently I saw a video clip of him speaking at some award event. I was very surprised to hear him speaking with a British accent which I now know of course is his natural speech. I am impressed when an actor can pull that off. Catherine Zeta Jones can talk? I haden't noticed.

Following a very hard year personally, which involved a divorce & custody battle, I am getting married again on Saturday
So I guess it is time for another holiday
Once I am back in last April, I can dedicate more time to threads. Sorry if I have let anyone down this year, but it has been tough - very tough, but at last I can see the light at the end of the tunnel....
Somedays it seems like dialup. When I get home I have a very very old machine in the barn I use. It is pushed to its limit. It has a broadband connection but if to many applications are running well I get the typing lag so I get a lot of typos. Besides there is so much crap on the keyboard that sometimes you really need to pound on the keys. But I like it better than my new dell quadcore box because I know xp better than vista.(pukes several times)

Maybe. I used to have Horses,Chickens,Turkeys,Goats etc. Ate most of them and sold the rest. But now it is really just a empty barn somewhat turned into a shop. Not the best environment for a computer but I love it still the same. It is a man house now.

Long hard story Giz but you can probably relate. My Wife uses a company supplied laptop with Vista. They locked down the laptop so it took me quite some time to change our desktop to make it look just like her laptop. Even if I put a dual boot system in, the startup will not look the same for her to login. So hence it is what it is. I don't really have a problem with it but I just like the warm fuzzy feeling with XP instead of Vista. So I like my old box in the barn better because it is setup the way I like it. Just way to slow sometimes. Especially when a virus scan is running like now.
