I have tried this with firefox and IE8.
I am going to assume this problem is due to a picture as a file attachment.
The actual image size is 1256px × 912px.
The KB size is allowed by the inline image display setting in the control panel.
When viewing on the portal page the picture is viewed full size. So it causes a horizontal scroll bar to appear.
If you open the topic the image is scaled down and no scroll bars appear.

I can't seem to find a setting in the control panel to correct this. And it is not a gallery forum.

Is there a way to fix the display on the portal page to eliminate the scroll bars???

I'll need to look at this. Probably going to be a version 8 thing, since I think it's a matter of the style not being applied to the images when displayed on the portal.

Currently my site www.iaeifl.org has a satellite dish picture in a topic.
Which I believe it the culprit.

Okay I looked at this some more.
Here is what I really don't get.
Inline uploaded images are set to 100,000( I was incorrect on my first post)
Forum upload attachment size is set to 1,048,576
File size is 249,921.

Why then does the picture appear at all?
It should appear as a link since it exceeds the setting.
Also
Max width for images used in posts? is set to 400PX which it does do in the post scaled to 400 X 290.
But not in the portal. So this item would probably be what is not applied to the portal page.

But the other items for sizes seem to not be applied globally.
It almost looks like forum Maximum size of file attachments settings override the Max Size for inline uploaded images setting

The portal has it's own rules and it ignores many of the settings set for individual forums. It really hasn't been touched much since it was original put in, so many of the newer features like inline image settings, picture sizes, etc. were never applied. Kind of an oversight, kind of a bug, you're the first to report it

I never really noticed it myself till someone complained about it.
Then by the time I looked at it the post rolled off the portal. So I expanded it a little bit to keep more posts viewable.

But still the image should have never appeared in the forum or portal to begin with from what I see. Only as a link.


So there must be another issue to address?

Yes since leaving classic I have finally reverted just about everything back to stock.
I think I will wait for 8.1 before I venture back into hacking (hosing) it up again.
