I remember reading somewhere that classic might generate more google hits and web traffic than threads. How much more are we talking? Significant amounts?

While i suspect that my forum's site owner might benefit from more web traffic as it may lead to more advertising revenue i don't really know if he cares anymore. I would more suspect that, at this point, he'd lean towards less maintenance -- threads.

Anyway, all the same, i want to inform him of any potential benefits to classic. (although i'm leaning towards threads as i'm guessing he will to)

thanks again, you've all been a great help.

Some people have voiced concerns on less hits after upgrading. Some say less that half. For me with my board that targets a very small group it actually increased.
My 2cents:
It could be due to the URL's changed after upgrading to Threads. So it could take quite a bit of time to catch back up. Unless you desire to start re-submitting, sitemaps and url's to the search engines. And whatever other SEO method you wish to use.

Well, once your new content gets crawled you won't see much difference; just run the importers and possibly a sitemap for the new content. I have a sitemap script available (see the virtualnightclub link in my sig line, go to "our scripts")
