My web site was 10 years old last month (...and I was so busy I forgot!!!! ).
You probably don't give a hoot about this fact but it means a lot to me so I'm making a post about it. Anyone who has a web site that has been running for a long time knows just how much time and effort goes in to maintaining it so I think it's worth a shout.

I started mine in summer of 1997, so I know what you mean, and congrats :-)

After trying several free solutions I purchased the old Ultimate Bulletin Board software and then switched it to .threads when that was released. In fact, somewhere around my house I may even have one of the old zips of the original UBB before Threads.

I think that's probably what I have, is the 5.4x series.. God only knows why I keep it around...LOL. I too, have changed my URL since the inception of my site original site. Now I have 5 sites I maintain. 4 personal and one for my Masonic Lodge.
My site: http://www.britishcarforum.com will turn 9 years old this Christmas day. I started with UBB Classic back then and switched to threads later on. I don't actually remember exactly when, but probably after the 1st year. When I first started, I was just paying my ISP for web space with no server access myself. After a couple of years, I needed to move to a VPS, which worked well for several more years. Finally, my site got big enough and I was getting tired of how slow the VPS was running that I moved to a dedicated server, which is what I still have today (leased).
