Is there a way in 7.5.4.2 to make a user setting where the default is to NOT add my signature to a post (but still have the option to check a box to include it if I explicitly want to?)

Only way I can think of is in mystuff>Edit profile.
Delete the signature. Poof they are gone.
Add and poof they are back.
I don't recall a way to store your signature and turn it on and off at will. Nor is a way to only add a signature to specif posts unless you add it to the post while typing.

Also in MyStuff> Edit Preferences.
You can elect to see other users signatures in a post.

And there are settings for size,image etc in
Control Panel » Site Permissions
You will need that set per group.

you'd have to modify stock code.. newpost.inc.php, newreply.inc.php

search for $addsig and remove the checked=checked stuff..
