I just downloaded all the files of ubbthreads off my server

To back up the Forum

It downloaded in ASCII, I am not sure if that was correct

Now I have to backup the database?

How do I do that?

Most FTP clients will auto-detect the file type while it is backing up the files. Everything should be in ascii, except for any image files.

As for backing up the database. The first option would be through your domain control panel. They should have something like phpmyadmin installed which will allow you to export the entire database.

I guess I should temporarily shutdown the forum for the database backup...
