I recently discovered a pleasant feature in Netscape 9 that isn't available with Firefox or IE. With Netscape, I can use the mouse to click on the border of the input window (where I type text I want to post), and drag it to enlarge the window.

It is similar to clicking the vertical ^ and v (up and down) arrows in the upper right corner to change the height, but with Netscape, I can expand the width by dragging the right edge, or the height by dragging the bottom edge, OR both by dragging the corner! It is similar to changing the window size of the entire browser.

Before posting this message, I was able to change the window dimensions from 525x180 to 640x412. Nice! cool

I LIKE that feature. ...So why doesn't it work with Firefox or IE?

i use a firefox add-on called 'stylish' that has specific textareas sized to my preferred size per site..

so even though it's not as click/drag-ie, it does the same thing in the end.

and if i really am going to type in a novella for a post, the add-on "It's all text" allows me to click a little 'Edit' button below the textarea and it opens my editor of choice.. when i save from the editor, it pastes it back here automatically..

so i think you'll find that different browsers offer different ways to do what you want..

[except for IE of course laugh ]

I thought Netscape was discontinued quite a while back?

Well yes, Netscape was discontinued, but you can still download and install it. I still use it as an alternate browser in odd situations. ...and that's how I noticed the posting window could be resized. And if that browser allows resizing, why can't Firefox do it?

I was hoping people here might know of a way to enable resizing in Firefox.

I think all browsers can do it in some fashion, except IE.. maybe even IE can, with developer toolbar, but i wouldn't know..

for sure, it can be done in FF, Opera, Safari, Chrome smile

It's possible that we can just do it with YUI. I've seen a few examples, just need to figure out how much weight it's going to add since editors are pretty heavy as is.

Any idea how difficult it would be to convince the Firefox developers within Mozilla to enable the feature?

next to impossible, since you can just grab a free add-on and you have it in firefox..

so they'd say: "you already have it"

smile

Heh heh.... And Firefox DID notice! Firefox 4.0 now has a resizable post window, with little dots in the lower right corner to indicate the feature is there.

I LIKE it!
