ubbthreads is a commercial forum application; it is not free, instead you must obtain a license (through the order page).

After you've purchased a license and downloaded the script you would install it (following the instructions in the documentation).

From there you'd probably end up importing from your phpbb forum to your newly installed ubb.

OK, I'm 60 and haven't done an upgrade in a decade till now. And now, there are many things that look Greek to me. so, if an admin here can tell me how to make someone an admin in my forum, I'd really appreciate it. I used to know (with the old, old, old forum I had).

It isn't much different from the old forum threads... the product when downloaded and installed, installs an admin. To make someone an admin, be on an admin account (usually you can at least log in using Admin <password> *Default Admin*...(If you are an admin you can use your own account)

Go to Control Panel and Member Management... type in the screen name (or even user name if known) and it will search for that member... click on the member you want to "edit"... Click on Permissions tab.. you will see a spot to check to make an admin. Click that Scroll to the bottom of page and click update member button... voila you have a new admin.
