Hey there,

My 7.5.3 Threads board is kaput and is giving a message to "flush hosts" in mysql...

Sounds mysterious... anyone had to do this, know if it'll fix the prob?

Thanks!

It's a legit message, all depends on your MySQL setup. You can read about what it means in more detail here:

Thx, is it something that needs to be done with Threads in your experience? Just wondering what could cause it?

Flushing the hosts fixed it... still no idea what caused it or whether I should change a parameter or something:-P

In case the UBB guys are interested, here's what the hosting company support guy said about flushing hosts:

"This usually happens when you have more connections to the MySQL then the default limit of 250 connections or you have a script that is opening connections but not closing them. I strongly recommend to review your websites code and check if all the mysql connections are being closed after they have done their job."

250 connections seems like not very many, doesn't it?

First thing is make sure you don't have persistent connections turned on in the control panel, so the connections will be closed when the script finishes.

As for limiting to 250 connections. It depends on how big and active your forums are. You're going to get a connection per script, so if you have a lot of users online at the same time, including spiders and guests, then yes you might reach that number where it becomes an issue.
