I now have ipv6 /48 subnet.
I want to create a ipv6 copy of my forum (like ipv6.google.com and google.com).
I now have a test page at my server with ipv6 prefix.
I can copy my httpdocs into httpdocs-ipv6, that's easy.
I can edit my graphics and change includes to put in the ipv6 prefix and ipv6 ip
But can it share the same db and credentials?
Simply put I want that someone posts on ipv4 site it will show up on ipv6 site and vice-versa.
I want them the same except the URL and graphics.
Both operate on the same domain but physically different directories.
I assume the ubbcode will log and show ipv6 addresses and accepts them?

Thanks!

I just rsynced the ubbthreads and then modified the config.php in includes to the new ipv6 URL and absolute paths and it fires up on ipv6!

Naturally the posts are synced as it's using the same database, but is there a way of syncing up the icons, gallery, avatars, etc?

Right now I have got a bi-directional rsync running both ways based on date.

I tried symlinking the avatars and images. It all works, but it fails in the control panel when you test is the directory writable.

Would be nice a future solution to do this more elegantly, as ipv6 is not going away and sooner or later everyone will have the same issue.

I am against simply using the same URL, as are the majority of people using ipv6. Simply if a client has a working ipv6 connection, but routing issues, then they can't connect ia ipv4 as ipv6 is always peferred.

That is why google elected for ipv6.google.com as most people run an ipv6 prefix instead of www

Any idea's on better sharing the galleries and images and keeping them the same?

Cheers.
