Hi all. We have 7.5.4.2 and are thinking about upgrading to 7.5.6. I downloaded the zip file and was reading the instructions on the upgrade page and was confused about this:

"Upload all files and directories from the unzipped UBB™ directory to the UBB™ installation directory, except for the includes, styles, and cache_builders/custom directories."

What is the installation directory? We have our regular directories that are running the board but do we create a directory within /ubbthreads called installation or just copy the files and overwrite the existing directories?
Probably a simple thing but just want to be sure before proceeding.

if your forums are at '/ubbthreads' dir, that would be the installation dir

_this_ forum's installation dir is /forums, for example

so for you, just upload and overwrite all the files _except_ those mentioned ( cache_builders/custom, includes etc.. )

to /ubbthreads/admin, /ubbthreads/scripts etc etc...

there will also be /ubbthreads/install ( not the installation dir, but the actual upgrade stuff you will need to run )

after upgrade complete, delete the ubbthreads/install dir

That would be the folder called install.
Which holds the install/upgrade scripts.
When you look at the zip file it will have A INSTALL FOLDER so upload that also.
Also suggested is to delete that folder when done.
So for me when upgrading .
Make a backup including the database prior.
The directions tell you for upgrading to not overwrite the stated folders because you don't want to overwrite some items.
such as islands or styles you have changed.
But you still want to ftp the install folder to your site.
In that folder is scripts to alter the mysql table if needed.

JUST MAKE SURE IF UPGRADING TO USE THE UPGRADE.PHP FILE NOT THE INSTALL.PHP FILE.

So the zip file would be uploaded to same. Except for includes, styles, and cache_builders/custom directories.
And the install folder would be like:
http://www.kickas.org/ubbthreads/install.
