The server went down April 20th. And is still down. They started with 77 million accounts compromised. And now have added another 20 million accounts. That were hacked prior to the 20th.
In addition the FBI and Homeland Security is now involved.

Hardly, I use Netflix on Xbox everyday as our "entertainment"; if it would have been down, I'd have noticed... It hasn't been down for as long as I can recall
I'm glad I never associated my creditcard with my account way back when...
I'd like to note, Xbox Live is still online and going strong ...
Until MS pisses off someone and tries to lock the xbox up or tell their customers what they can and cant do with their purchased equipment. Sony's issue was their ego. I bet MS could be taken down just as quick and hard, when these companies feel they are cocky and can tell users what they can do after buying their product and violate rights thats where the problems starts.
For years these companies have people by the you know what, now people are fighting back. Just hope the CC numbers are not sold or used!

Have you not heard about them deactivating modded consoles? You can't mod the dvd drive, they will simply ban you from connecting; and sadly everyone is fine with it lol...
Dont follow xbox news but think I remember you telling me that. That is pretty much how this started. In PS3 you were able to install a linux. Sony locked that down without telling anyone, ok people were pissed but whatever. Than geohot jail broke it giving the access back so Sony took him to court and bullied him. There is what started the whole mess. With PSN you are locked out of the network if you don't agree not to mod the system and install an update that locks it more.
I had an account for Sony Online Entertainment's Star Wars Galaxies from 2005 to 2007. Sony emailed me and told me that my credit card information was compromised, once for each account (2). Glad I no longer have that card and have since switched banks.
