I am new to UBB, so I apologize in advance if this is a FAQ.

I have been asked to activate the Shout Box on the right column of our site. We do not use a left column.

However, no matter how I try to set the Shout Box in the Portal Layout, it does not appear in the right column.

Yet if I select a column in the LEFT column, it appears.

There is only one other item (Who's Online) in the right column. Toggling their positions does not work (and the Who's Online always shows).

I'm sure this is something simple I've just not found in the docs or using the Search feature. Have pity on a newbie and point me in the right direction?

TIA

This was a easy answer until you stated that the whos online island works on the right.
Possibly permissions to use/see the shout box are turned off.
I would goto:
Control Panel » Site Permissions
This would need to be set for each group you wish to allow.
Select the fields below to expand them

Can see the shoutbox
Can use the shoutbox

Enter a value of 1 for each group you wish to allow in the list.

Thanks for the quick reply. But permissions were already set (only for admins and mods right now, at least until we get it working).

URL to your board?

I would also do :
Control Panel » Clear Cache

This may end up being a manual process.

Also check:
Control Panel » Portal Settings
Only show left column on portal page?
Only show right column on portal page?

Turn them off if they are selected.
I had some screwy stuff happen once when I accidently had them both checked.

Can I PM you? For reasons I'd rather not go into, I'd prefer not to post this publicly.

Thanks. Will try the above.

As for the Only show.. settings, the Only show Right column is checked. The left is unchecked.

Hmmm. Unchecking for "Only show..." boxes did the trick. However, it now appears that I have TWO right-hand columns! I'm guessing this is a custom configuration, which would explain why the other items in the right column don't show up in the Control Panel.

I think I need to get the site technical folks involved...
