Our user board for our Electronic Medical Record has come down with quotitis. As the admin, it drives me nuts as I just want to delete the post or at least the quote.

Certainly, quotes are very helpful when replying to a post several ways up. But, we must get 10 or more a day of the next post quote.

I will have to demonstrate to make sense.

Bill:

Does anyone know how much money the government is paying for meaningful use?

It should be $44,000 for FP and $66,000 for pediatrics

This is literally how some of the threads go. It drives me batty.

Maybe I should just copy and paste the entire thread into one post and quote it.

Oooh so tempted to quote you! lol

Yeah, that would drive me batty too. Quoting is useful at times and great for pulling out a short excerpt to comment on, but used sparingly is better... I am not a fan of the Quick Quote!

One idea might be to create an informative post to your membership, asking them to consider using the feature more sparingly... to avoid lengthy scrolling?

That's a good idea. But, of course, it isn't so much that they quote so often as they quote the post above, which is the topic they are obviously referring to.

I always get a kick out of the improper quote so it reads:

[quote=John]Now is the time for all....[\quote], and therefore does not look like a quote. I ALWAYS have to go in and edit that.

For the novice user (not that I am any UBB genius -- if that is even the term), they must go back and just think, "Hmmm, guess it takes a while to work."
