Hello!

I'm new to UBB and signed up because I have a client who uses UBB and their former webmaster died, so I'm looking to get "up to speed" as soon as I can.

My first contribution to the site is for the Documentation Maintainers. On this page:

UBB Administer Documentation

...you have a sentence that says, "Advanced support is available from our development staff at the rate of $50 per half our unit."

I believe you meant to write "$50 per half hour unit."

The UBB system that my client is using is "ultimatebb.cgi" version 6.5.0.

Any advice on how to proceed is welcome!

Sincerely,

Welcome.
Heh Heh,
Yea, typo for sure.
Well the first item to address is your version is what we call Classic. End of life was many years ago.
Meaning it is perl/cgi based and uses a flat file system for data. It is only supported for upgrades to newer versions. But you can still get limited support here from other users.
The current versions are php based using mysql and are called Threads.
So if you are looking for help go near the bottom of the forum and you will see forums for your product.
There are some limited posts at the top of the forum with some archived documentation for your version. But feel free to ask any questions.

That is funny, considering that document is like 4 years old hehe... Looks like Rick should have hired proofreaders to go over things tongue...

Your current version, UBB.Classic which is a Perl based forum solution, reached End of Life some time ago (just prior to when v7 was released on October 5, 2006; no new features are developed for it, and documentation/support is limited at best.

As Ruben pointed out, the new version is UBB.threads and it is a PHP/MySQL based forum product which takes up significantly less resources on the hosted machine; support is current and it's actively being developed (now).
