I have had this software for over a year now and still have not figured out the avatar deal. You create a directory then it says it's not there. WTH? What directory do you use and where the hell does it go? I am still using 7.5.5. I have not put the board up yet for the 1000th time till I get this figured out......

Well you could start with ubbwiki.com
I think we covered most all bases.
But in a nutshell you need to create a folder for them and set file permissions.
It does not matter where it is as far as to function.
Just where you want it to exist.

Then you go into the control panel and enter the path. Then here is the important part.
Use the test link.
If successful it will add a test file to the folder. That is needed for future adds.
Then of course you need to add permissions to the group in question to allow them to up load avatar files.

It must matter where it exists because no matter where I put it it says it's not there.

You have to create the directory then tell the UBB the full server-side path to the directory as well as the web based path.

Example; if your user home is "/home/gremelin" and your forum is installed in say "public_html/forums" and you put the avatar directory under that you'd have to tell the UBB that it's at the location of "/home/gremelin/public_html/forums/avatars" as well as chmod that folder 777 so that files can be created in it.

Thanks Gizmo....I was leaving off the home part. Added that and it worked....
