If you have adsense, they provide this report, in the score card, very handy.

what kinds of problems will it cause, if I remove this one they are asking me to? Am sure others will want to remove that as well.

Honestly it's not going to affect anything but your bandwidth usage for your site; you're telling your users browsers "hey, this file doesn't change very often, don't bother checking back until [cache period]".

I renamed that with a xxxxx group in front to see what would happen..

People could not log in and when they did they could not see/use the shout box. Most had to clean their cookies, AFTER I took off the xxxxx in front of the file.

Most of that is not understandable by me.. or people like me.

I suspect we all need this to raise the google rankings..

Can someone summarize on how we can do this?

Bottom line is add the code to your htaccess file and decide on how long for each file type.
month year,hours,etc
png,gif,javascript,css,etc


Never tried it myself but I would check the testing references first and after changing.

there are a lot of things on there i do not understand..

BUT it seems like we need to have 4-5 lines to put in the our htaccess?

AND I think everyone could use that, if I understand it correct,,, if we want higher rankings in google etc?
