User Flood Check:

In seconds.
If blank, the global config setting will be used.

Hi I have problem with one member that sthart threads/posts and then edit and delete some 30 times aday.
He irritate others and then change his posts and drives people nuts.

I don't wish to ban him but I wish to limit his possibilities to edit/delete.

How about if I change the User flood check? what happens if I set let say 8 hours will he be only to post once every 8 hours?
If so could he still edit/delete posts or is that also affected by the 8 hours rule.
I hope it does. Please explain the user flood check how it works

Thanks

Control Panel > Permissions > Group
Select the "Users" group > Forum

Minimum time between posts = 120 (2 minutes)
Delete post time limit = 0 (Never allow)
Edit post time limit = 600 (10 minutes)

You could also create a new group for people like him, and set his posts to:
All new posts are moderated = 1 (true/yes)

Just a few ideas

I believe the "Flood Check" is a "Per User" setting of the same options which is in the Group Permissions page mentioned above.

So if you want to tighten the threshold on a particular user, instead of the whole group, you could do it there.

Isaac, thanks for the reply, in this case its more delikate as I have an upgraded Group of Life members that has contributed and paid to get extra benefits. They can upload files and gets more of everything. He is in that Group.
Therefor its a bit sensetive to move him to another Group.

I guess the only thing I can do to him as an individual member is to use the Flood Check can you confirm if I set the value "3600" he cannot
post or edit anything within that time frame of 3600 seconds?

Thanks

I believe the Flood Check is just for new posts.

Another solution would be to just create a new group with the limits on it that you require. Then add that group to his account. He can be in multiple groups at the same time.

On that newly created group, set his "Edit Post" time limit to something reasonable.

For example: on your site, you are in the Administrators Group and the Users group. You could keep this user in the Users group, Subscribers group, and also your newly created "Special" group.

The "Special" group would be all the users who you'd like to impose a lower time limit allowed for editing posts.

Oh I can answer it my self as I set one of my own "user" accounts to 120 seconds in the flood check

I then created a thread and edited it twice it was no problem, then I tried to post a reply and got this answer
"You can only make a post every 120 seconds. Please try again once this time has expired. "

Dang it would have been nice if it affected both options instead pf only the new posts.

Oh I noticed your new reply now. I have wondered if a member is in multiple Groups with different settings in ea Group which of the group rules out the other.
