I'm running UBB.classic 6.7.1.

Would it be possible to install UBB.threads and only import the members and not the forums/posts?

Just trying to think ahead. If I run into an import problem with forums, I wonder if I might just start fresh with a clean board.

Last question. After I make the transition from Classic to Threads, can the Classic board still exist as a read-only archive?

The importer works fine, but it takes time. With a large Board you may reckon that it takes 1-2 days.

If you have enough space at your webhost, you can backup the /cgi-bin and /ubb directory to secound directory, configure the vars_config.cgi with the new absolut and relative paths, then just delete all Forums and start the import progress (make sure that all Forum* directorys are deleted). Just a work around but it may works wink

Hmmm, is think thats can be a problem with the licenes. But maybe Rick can give you a answer wink

I've run the importer from classic to threads 7 more than 50 times, you shouldn't have any problem.

For any forum with less than a million posts and on a decent server you can do an import in less than 8 hours, I'd figure maybe an hour per hundred thousand posts for a educated guess.

If you really don't want to import posts, back up your non-cgi folder and prune the forums of all posts prior to today. That would be a waste, really... import smile

Thanks for the reassurance. I'm sure I'm going to import it all when I'm ready.
