I am considering upgrading from Classic 6.7 to Threads (fairly active board that I suspect will become very busy soon). Other than the features listed in the comparison charts and documentation manuals, are there any other benefits to upgrading to Threads? Specifically, can I expect to see an increase in performance?

Thanks for any advice in advance,

DW

I would not upgrade right now.

Wait until the new product comes out and see if that is the best course of action for you. Upgrading to threads from classic is fairly redundant at this point.

Medar (or anyone)....

Is there a performance increase in switching to php and mySQL as opposed to the flat architecture with the php accelerator? I know notthing about php, but am slowly picking it up.

Thanks again,

On that question, YES. Swapping to the PHP and MySQL format will give you a considerable performance increase on a busy forum, and at least a decent increase on a smaller forum.

I used Classic years ago (early version), and have used Threads since version 2.x perl...and much prefer the PHP/MySQL version over perl/flatfile systems.

Very big increase. If you have a really big board then running UBBC becomes virtually impossible on anything but a dedicated platform. MySQL database technology is certainly the way forward if you plan on having a huge board.

I was trying to find a how to or some instructions but could not locate them. I just transfered my licence from Ubb.Classic to Threads.
