On a fresh install, the Maximum date range for a search is noit set, and this makes a search impossible. One has to manually set it once in /admin/features.php?returntab=1 in order to set it.

Obviously $config['rangevalue'] and $config['rangetype'] are not set at install in the config.inc.php
