Changing your avatar: This is the designed behavior. We can and will not have the board clear the entire topic cache every time someone changes their avatar.

Adding new avatars: Make sure that the file names contain ONLY a-z, A-Z, 0-9, the dash, and the underscore. Make sure that they match the valid file extensions given in the control panel. Make sure you go ALL THE WAY to the last page - they might hide out there. They should be recognized immediately - no need to close the board or hit the upgrade button (which clears the cache, BTW).

I'm also having trouble with avatars not appearing. I turned them on in the control panel, and I can choose them quite nicely in the user profile area. But they refuse to show up in the actual posts! I've tried doing the 'upgrade' option in the control panel, clearing the cache, refreshing my browser, everything. And when I look in the template file I see code in there that talks about drawing avatars, so the code seems to be willing to do it. But the actual display doesn't have any avatar.

Any thoughts of things to try?

Hello,

Our community is having problems with Avatars. In the previous version of UBB, we were able to direct people to the following link:

Once they changed their avatar, we asked them to return to www.myDanceFriends.com

HOwever, since upgrading to the latest version, people are now posting that they cannot get their avatars to show at all even going to the link above.

Here are the comments so if someone could advise... it again seems to have to do with Microsoft Explorer <?>...

If you're using MS products things don't seem to work correctly when setting avatars.

I occassionally loose my photo avatar and have had to install Netscape on my computer at work, simply to make my avatar 'stick'.

A bit drastic.

Can anybody help - i had my avatar working the other day - now i have none. I have been into my profile, checked and there was none, so i re- chose my picture & i still could'nt get it to work.
