OK, for anyone else that has the problem, here's the answer, although the actual problem was not disclosed: From: Kate Sloan Date: 07 May 2002 at 10:53 AM Hello Bryan, It's all taken care of - it was just a tiny issue regarding permissions and hitting the Upgrade button fixed it (didn't actually upgrade anything, it's just the process that the Upgrade feature goes through that we needed). I tried uploading an avatar to your avatars directory and it works fine now. Let me know if you have any other problems! Thanks, Kate Thank you, Kate Sloan Infopop Corporation Thanks Kate!! ___________________ Webmaster www.sbtontheweb.com

After clicking "set url", are you getting the avatar showing up (top left) or the red cross placeholder? If the avatar shows up are you sure that you're clicking on "update profile"? If the red cross is there - remember the file names are case sensitive . . . I ran into that problem yesterday when I provided a custom avatar to a member who'd emailed me a pic. After editing it to make it conform, I upped it 4 or 5 times without result until I realised that the filename was Archer.gif and I was pointing to archer.gif (doh! ) maybe???? -------------------------------------------- I'm depriving a village somewhere of an idiot ! 1) I uploaded my new avatars into /ubb/Avatars where the rest of them are. I assume this is right! They are all JPGs and I uploaded them as Binary. 2) I closed the forum. I did UPGRADE from maintenance. I cleared the cache. I opened the forum. 3) New Avatars still don't show up. You can't miss them. They are all 64x64 versions of Sparks albums covers. They're not there. What's my problem? Thanks, Debbie www.aswas.com > websites for both sides of the brain > > > visit my UBB's: the frenz.com forum and Gratuitous Chats

Changing your avatar: This is the designed behavior. We can and will not have the board clear the entire topic cache every time someone changes their avatar. Adding new avatars: Make sure that the file names contain ONLY a-z, A-Z, 0-9, the dash, and the underscore. Make sure that they match the valid file extensions given in the control panel. Make sure you go ALL THE WAY to the last page - they might hide out there. They should be recognized immediately - no need to close the board or hit the upgrade button (which clears the cache, BTW). -- Charles Capps UBB.classic™ Developer Having problems?
