We have a p4 2.0 Redhat 73 box w/ 1gb of RAM and super fast hard drives and UBB wacks the processor for 40% sometimes. There are 10's of thousands of .cgi files in the UBB dirs, is it possible our boards are just too big for this great hardware? Or are there some performance tweaks that can be made to UBB?

For best performance, keep the number of members down to a minimum, and the number of topics within your busiest forums to a minimum...

Do you mean the "Recent Registered Members" under the Community Directory Options?

There are 11665 members and the forum with the most traffic currently has 4570 posts. The next most visited forum has 2570.

The most critical number would be your monthly pageviews.... this is right on the intro screen in the control panel.

Cache hit percentage: 46.82%

303499 / 11 -> 27590 * 30 -> 827,400 monthly pageviews, give or take. You should be OK on that hardware for up to a million monthly pageviews, with luck.

Your cache hit percentage is right about what it should be.

Right now, your best bet for a performance boost would be to delete as many of those members as possible. Run a search in the control panel for members that registered more than a month ago and never posted, then delete them all. That'll be a good few thousand members, which should help quite a bit...
