the most common tasks?

o1] searchin' for not-easy-to-find-features & buttons *g*
o2] wordlets translating from time to time *g* (i dislike the german one delivered by infopop)
o3] searching for a members email-adress
o4] checking profile from new users just registered with usernames i could think that these dudes will cause some trouble (spam, fakes, ads..)
o5] changing the posting-rights from users / banning
o6] entering a custom user title for users (i didn't allow my users to create it themselve)
...mhn... saving :-)

1) Approve or decline new members in moderation queue
2) Delete inactive members
3) Send a members their password
4) Change a member email address at their request
5) Ban an IP or place posting restrictions on a member
6) Add words to censor list
7) Change or add a custom title to a member
8) Change a forum's intro

technoforum--can you name off some of the "hard to find" features? If you do that, I can specifically call them out in the new document.

Can you guys name some other little "tricks" that might be helpful for people too? I'm thinking about some of the "How Do I" questions we get all the time, but that aren't specifically included in the document right now...

1. View/Edit Member Records
2. IP & Email Ban
3. Move Topics
4. Avatar Images
5. Wordlet lists

Data Backup

A quick and easy way to back up all the data unique to a given installation of UBB would be nice improvement to the CP. Maybe I'm missing something, but if not I'd like to be able to have UBB export a data file (or two or three) containing all user account data, posts, etc, for backup purposes. Even better, such backup files could then be used to import into an installation of UBB as an upgrade procedure.

LK, last time I looked UBB.classic didn't have a claendar, thus no settings to change, thanks. Same with statistics setings.

dweisss, that isn't in the control panel either. We have a backup guide here, if that is what you are looking for. If you are looking for us to automate it, that would be a different thread.

Steven put it correctly, we are looking to get a feel for the most common operations you do in your (non hacked, LK) UBB.classic control panel.

Okay...

Probably:
1. maintenance of the posts and members
2. upgrading

If I wouldn't have touched the vars_X/members files directly, it'd probably be:

1. changing profiles
2. modifying styles
3. maintenance
4. general display settings
5. upgrading

If I wouldn't have disabled cache, clearing cache would've been probably #1.

From creating the read only forum, to using Mass Move to drop them into the forum

My wish list of features from CP or anywhere!:

• Merge topics in a forum
  
• Block display of password when registering without hacking the code
  
• Have access to (find) member numbers when in the moderator interface instead of having to find the number from one interface and go back to the other
  
• Clone a forum 4 to 5 times at once, even if I have to go in and adjust forum title and description a bit

I do a lot of hacking, so clearing the cache is something I do most.
Assigning moderators.
Deleting misbehaving members.
Editing Forum settings (ie description, title, intro)
Giving myself a new custom title
