Hello (6.7.1)

I've been keeping my board up to date over the years, but I've let things slip a little, recently.

I am still running 6.7.1 because I thought (at the time) this would have been the last ubb release.

Anyhow, with that thought in mind - I installed some very minor UBBDev hacks. (Flags and Admin-password)

Although I could reset my board to the pre 6.7.1 settings, I was wondering whether I could be lazy and just wait for the next gen product and upgrade from there?

Or will everyone have to be at 6.7.3 (or latest) at the time of release?

Thanks

I'll have to defer this question to Charles Capps. He would be the person that would be able to tell you that information.

IMO, there isn't any big reason to upgrade within 6.7.x until we're ready for the "NextGen" product; myself i'm staying with 6.7.2 until then, the only reason to upgrade for me is for the upgrades to the importer...

Well, if you're not planning on exporting to another forum type there is no reason to upgrade just for the importer

You will need to upgrade in order to move to "NextGen"... however, it won't be to 6.7.3, but to a new version of Classic that will be released around the same time.

Ah ha! Good to know this.

So, presumably, all boards will upgrade only when *not* mod'ed....?

(Which isn't unreasonable.)

Perhaps in a month, or a year at least? ANY information?

We'll announce it here before it goes out in the newsletters.

Yes, we do have dates. Ask again in about a month and a half and I might be able to give you something a bit less vague.

(And in case you guys are wondering, there are really good reasons it's taking so long... all will be explained in time.)

OK, today it is ABOUT a month and a half later, so can you give us something bit less vague today?

We did reach our internal date goal scheduled for earlier this month, which was what I was referencing in my last post in this topic. At the time, I kinda assumed we'd be able to tell everyone what was going on after that date, but that isn't the case quite yet.

There will be an announcement in the relatively near future.

You ARE aware though that "relatively near future" can mean a year, aren't you?

Oh ye of little faith.

The announcement is currently penciled in for early next week. If that changes, I'll be sure to post here.

Patience Grasshopper. Remeber they are on the West Coast, so they are a couple of hours behind us. We've already waited this long, a little while longer never hurt anyone.

Last I checked, it was supposed to be today, but I know there were some edits needed, so it could be delayed.

What a long, strange odyseey it's been.

Has anyone else noticed CC's title has been changed? CC == Best Admin we've ever had at a UBB Community

I did. And I can't say I like the implications of it, since Charles was the only one who at least gave us some info...

Charles is no longer with the company, he has left us, and he will be missed. Please understand that for privacy reasons it would be most improper for us to say any more than that.

We wish Charles the best of luck in the future and thank him for his contributions.

Was it because there will be no more downloadable product from Groupee in the future?
