#92997 - 10/26/00 11:42 PM Installation - cp.html - No Page Found General Settings

Hi,

I am trying to complete installation and have tried several paths to the cgi-bin which was already in my root directory where my index file is at. I also installed to the same directory ubb and Members folders using ascii format.

Path to the control panel is www.nmsoh.org/ubb/cp.html

I have tried the following Base Href paths in the cplinks.html file and none work. "http://www.nmsoh.org/cgi-bin/" & "http://nmsoh.org/cgi-bin/" & "http://cgi-bin"

I called my host before installing and they said I should have no trouble using ubb as they have other customers using it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Patti

your paths are still incorrect

it shows it is
http:///cpanel.cgi?action=variables

make sure the base path is http://www.nmsoh.org/cgi-bin/ubb/

or where ever your ubb cgi scripts are

Thanks for replying.

I tried that path and even moved ubb folder into my cgi-bin directory and it still did not work.

As of now the folders are stored in the root directory which also contains my index page for nmsoh. As follows:

/ubb
/Members
/cgi-bin

Is this incorrect? Seems to me the path per the instructions should be changed to "http://www.nmsoh.org/cgi-bin/"

No matter what path I try it always shows it as http:///cpanel.cgi?action=variables when I click on the links. Why is it not loading the www.nmsoh.org in the path since I changed the cplinks.html to read:

< !-- For example <BASE HREF="http://www.nmsoh.org/cgi-bin/" -->

Thanks Patti

Don't use the 'for example' line. Look below that for a line that starts <BASE HREF=""> and change that one. Put the URL between the quotes.

<BASE HREF="http://www.nmsoh.org/cgi-bin/">

Or does this mean that my server won't except this board? please help. peace

I have the exact same problem. Everything works fine until I get to General Settings.

Thanks Hal. My path is now loading correctly. Duh! I can't believe I did not look down one more line. I thought that was a comment line but I know nothing of Pearl and was not sure if maybe things were done differently.

Any way I am now getting a HTTP 500 Page Not Found. From other posts it looks like this may be a cgi - perl mapping problem and I have called my host to check it out.

I noticed you post frequently to help others. Want to let you know that it is appreciated!

Hal is the man! (And it never hurts to compliment him every once in a while... )

*ducks*

Others - please do not 'me-too' on other threads. Reverify Hal's remark about not editing the example line. If that does not help you out, please post a problem description in a new thread, along with the URL to your control panel.
