i tested my message board to see , that if
i lost my password would it email it to me, well, i put my email address and it did not email me my password. it gave me some errors and it said that my email would be sent.

here are the error messages:


Server Error: "550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for esmi_@hotmail.com "


Server Error: "554 5.5.2 No valid recipients "


Server Error: "500 5.3.3 Unrecognized command "

then it says this:
Your username and password for this bulletin board have just been emailed to you!
You are now being automatically returned to the main forums page.

Please wait while we create the new page ...

...but i never received the email. i have the email notification on feature, is there anything else i have to do to fix this problem. any help, advise would be greatly appreciated. thanks

See the first line of the error message? The SMTP server you are using for mail is not authorized to send mail for the address(es) you have set in General Settings. Either ask the sysadmin to allow relaying for your hotmail address, or use an address in General Settings that the SMTP server is authorized to relay from.

I have a similar problem, (this is the closest thing to my problem I've found).

My error message involves aol...

Server Error: "550 not local host aol.com, not a gateway "

Server Error: "503 must have sender and recipient first "

Server Error: "502 unimplemented command "

We are using paid version 542a, didn't realize it's been updated so much. I plan to update our program today.

Cross my request off of your list. I did the upgrade and while resetting the General Settings found out that my SMTP server had changed. It's working fine now.

Please, do not attach unrelated issues to old threads. This practice is called me-tooing, and is heavily discouraged.
