#93904 - 12/07/00 05:45 PM [403] Error - Access Forbidden
Anonymous

I'm trying out the free version of UBB. Now, I followed each and every instruction stated there in the unix installation guide, i'm pretty sure i got it all right so this really stumped me. I get this error message when i click on General setting in cp.html.

[403] Error - Access Forbidden
Possible Reasons
You are not authorized to access the section you are trying to enter.
The permissions are not set correctly on that file/directory.
Directory browsing may be turned off for that directory.
You mistyped your password.

I'm pretty sure i got the chmods right. I checked for earlier problems like this in your forum and tried the suggestions there. I did the whole file uploading process twice and still nothing. I'm using WS_FTP 6.6 to upload the files. could you guys help me out here? my forum is located [url cleared for security reasons, anyway the problem's been fixed ].I can give you the password to my account there if you need it.

Thanks in advance guys.

Can you post a copy of your permissions here? Also if there is a .htaccess file in the cgi directory, remove it as it might be causing problems.

It was the .htaccess file after all. After I deleted that what i got was a [500] Internal Server error. so i followed the instructions you gave in this thread and the cpanel seemed to work just fine. thanks guys, you have an excellent technical support team here. i really appreciate it. am going to set those variables now.
