After moving my board, it was working fine until I set permissions to 777 for the files in the Members dir. After so doing I was locked out of the board and cp. Why would setting permissions to 777 cause a "wrong password" to come up?

If changing permissions in the Members folder will not cause the problem, what will cause a bug in the passwords?

When you transferred your board did you upload the files in ASCII? If not your board won't work properly. I suggest checking your files and ensuring that they are in the ASCII format.
