Since installing 5.47d onto a Unix server I am having problems with the "new posts since last visit lightbulb on the front page" and "contains new posts since last visit folder" in the actual forum page.

If I refresh all forums they work properly. After a couple readings or posts, the folder in the forum page with message wont even show up! Then when I go to the front page all light bulbs will be lit up! If I refresh all forums, this will take it back to normal. But once again after a few posts or readings it happens again.

I have done the upgrade process. Deleted the forum index, style, #, last number, last time files in each forum folder. I then refreshed all forum threads and the problem is still occuring. What the heck is going on!?!

I am not noticing any problems on your board. Which link are you using to go back to your main page after reading posts? Ultimate.cgi?action=intro or Ultimate.cgi?action=intro&BypassCookie=true ? If there are new posts in the forum while you are in it is normal for the light bulbs to light up again.

Ok, maybe thats the problem. To link it back I am using action=intro&BypassCookie=true

When I link back to the main page off of the forum tree in the upper right hand corner all the lightbulbs turn on. But If i do it just as a normal intro I am fine. hmmm

where can i change this.

This doesnt explain however, why there is no "New posts since last visit folder" in the actual forum. Its not even listed.

The link you are using is fine and it is working fine for me. Click the preferences link at the top of your forum and choose to clear your UBB cookies, then try to access your board again.

I have tried it on 4 different computers. There is supposed to be an icon for newly posted threads in the forums right? Right above "An open thread" and "A closed thread"

That is not listed?

The icons are all showing up fine for me. Is this occuring for you in all forums or just some? I suggest you try the clear cookies link in preferences to see if it solves the problem.

That is really strange. At the bottom of your forums, for me it says:

Contains new posts since the last time you logged on ( More than 10 replies) .
No new posts since the last time you logged on ( More than 10 replies).
A Closed thread - no new replies accepted.

Can you give me an URL to a page where this is occuring for you?

Threads don't have any of those icons at the bottom of the page. Can you give a URL to a forum where you are seeing these icons?

All icons are coming up fine for me on that page. Can anyone else here take a look at SPiN's forums to see if it is displaying correctly?

Maybe you should join and try to do a test post. See if it only happens to members.

Joined, posted a message, and it worked fine. Reset cookies through preferences, and it still works fine. Someone else on the boards here hopefully will see this topic and they will be able to check if the icons are displaying correctly.

There is no reason to do a new install because as far as I can see, everything is working fine. If you'd like, try reupload the cgi scripts to see if it helps. Do not reupload the 4 variable files. This is all you would be doing anyways if you were saving posts, settings, and members and then reinstalling anyways. In the meantime hopefully someone else here will take a look at your forum to see if the icons are displaying correctly.

In a forum, take a look. There should be three lines on the bottom.

"Contains new posts since the last time you logged on"
"No new posts since the last time you logged on"
"A Closed thread - no new replies accepted."

The first one is not there. The icon wont show up either. It is like completely gone! WTF!!!

Okay. NOW I see what you mean. That could only happen if you have modified the files or if you did not upload the correct version file. Did you make any changes of any kind to any of the files?

I put on 547d. I am pretty sure it is straight from infopop though? The company I work for has a contract or something. Should I go download it again?

It is worth a try. DO NOT reload the four variables files, just the rest of the cgi directory. Be sure you use the one with the correct perl path and upload in ascii mode. It should not be necessary to upload anything from the Members or nonCGI directory, but you may want to check to see that all of the gif and jpg files are present.

[To be safe, make copies of UltBB.setup, forums.cgi, mods.file, and Styles.file from your cgi directory before you start. Download in ascii mode to a separate directory or make copies in a separate directory on the server.]

I noticed this problem with the "New Posts since your last visit" on my site too. I wonder if it is a bug.
