I just noticed this now, it's occurring in 7.0+

When I type a link like this:

it is being displayed like this:
http://www.ubbcentral.com

Now, I don't mind that it's being hyperlinked -- I just don't want the http:// being displayed in the post unless it was originally typed that way. (Eudora hyperlinks and displays it the way I like -- just the www but w/o the http:// )

At the same time, could we hyperlink domains w/o the www. appended to them as well, yet still leaving off the http:// in the post itself? (that'd probably be much more difficult to recognize, though, come to think of it...)

I agree with not adding http:// however I disagree with dropping www. from the domains. Where commonly www. and non www. link to the same place, on some webservers it is not configured without www. to listen to the site; i've seen this common place on several differant sites.

Well, I just think it'd be nice if someone typed in amazon.com it'd link to it -- if http://www. (rather than http://) gets added to it (in the code), that's no problem... as long as it's displayed as amazon.com and it's hyperlinked, it'd be cool. (Next would be to add my Amazon Associates ID to every link to Amazon! )

But yeah, first and foremost I'd like to lose the http://

wouldn't be hard imo, to filter amazon, pm me how your affiliate links look and where to sign up and i'll break, err make, something
