I used quick reply for this posting just because I know it will reply to you. But actually I should have used the reply button in your post if I wanted to reply directly to you.

I can't take credit for these changes. I'm just a relayer of the info I don't particular care for threaded mode, so I haven't had much insight to how it should work properly. Scott works exclusively in threaded mode so he's addressing the "deficiencies"

then i'd like to relay that he possibly add a hybrid mode like on that comment thread on my blog i linked..

it's much more visually appealing and easy to follow, for the threaded mode peeps (imho) Linky Poo

i'm with you, Rick on the threaded mode use.. i never use it really..

what i find is that a board will be geared towards one or the other, but rarely both.. this is because of the default quick reply that has always existed.

Those who are threaded mode junkies already know the 'quirks' and use it to their advantage to truly utilize threaded mode.. but it almost has to be a board philosophy thing, versus an individual preference... (up until now)

edit: just to illustrate what i was talking about with respect to replying to a specific person..



i hit 'Reply' to a specific post.. then the quick reply 'slides out' (YUI has that, i'm sure) and



so you KNOW you are replying to that specific post.. (you can see Naz' reply below mine and my quick reply just appeared in between via javascript, so it really emphasizes that you are jumping into the 'threaded' mode part of the thread)

otherwise you just fill in the comment at the bottom 'quick reply area' and indentation goes back to the OP..

Even though I've never used threaded mode, I'm liking these tweaks quite a bit. Gonna make a big difference in the overall polish of the product.
