That doesn't happen too much down in Riverside County here in California. The Sheriff's department has shot and killed quite a few dogs (mostly pit bulls) as people use them as guard dogs as the area is pretty wide open semi-untamed land in the desert and when the Sheriff comes a knocking and a dog is loose and comes at them, well let's just say the 9MM usually wins.
Nothing really wrong with the breed I don't think, it's just all the people abusing them and training, breeding them to fight anything and everything. They need to reverse that breeding and spend time making them more gentle again.
