Size: 10 ½ Description: Large early German candy container. It is a privilege to be able to offer this magnificent piece of early German craftsmanship. This large and early German Halloween witch candy container is a testament to early German detail, artistry, and craftsmanship. Her classic black witch’s hat that is a separately made piece that has a red band around it, and has two red abstract designs adorning the front of the hat. Her hair is gray and beautifully molded with swirls, curls, and a bun in the back. Her face is magnificently sculpted and has the classic witch’s hooked nose and the classic witch’s square hooked chin that gives the profile of her face the ¾ sliver of the moon look. She has high cheek bones (beautifully highlighted), and sculpted eyes, mouth and eyebrows. The eyebrows are highlighted in gray, and her mouth is finished in red, as are her nostrils. Her eyes are a wonderful German white background blue circle with the white background and a black pupil. She is dressed in an astonishing array of different fabrics, in fact, she is wearing four completely different pieces of fabric that make up five different pieces of clothing. These include a black shirt complete with sleeves. The apron has straps that go around her neck and crisscross over her chest, and then the apron falls part way down the front of her dress. Her dress is a wild pattern of red, white, and blue geometric design. To give her the final Halloween look, she was given the proverbial witch’s cape which also has a separately made shawl that is sewn on top of the cape. She stands on a round wooden base, and is wearing black witch shoes with bright red leggings. She is a fine looking witch! She has a red candy container that has a band around the bottom. The piece exemplifies the exquisite mastery of early German craftsmanship, and it is this reason that early German Halloween is so sought after by collectors. This piece borders on the field of art with its craftsmanship and detail.
