Their help has been greatly appreciated. This is a rare saleman\'s sample miniature churn stamped WESTERN STONEWARE CO., inside of a maple leaf design. Probably made in the 1920\'s or so. This super little piece is only 4\" tall. I was told that it originally had a little stoneware lid, which is no longer present. What is does have now is a wooden handle with dabber on the end which someone may have had made. Anyway, it fits great and looks great, like it has been there all along. This looks exactly like the larger, more common churns, but shrunk down for a salesman to carry around to show off one of the wares produced by the Western Stoneware Co. of Monmouth, Illinois.
