1 Antique Genuine Gaboon Ebony Wood Piano Sharp for any Project - Black Keys
Price: US $2.25
***Price is for one piece***
Welcome! This listing is for 1 genuine ebony wood piano key taken from antique pianos. You will receive one of the pieces in the photo. They are in excellent vintage condition. The bottom sides have a texture that was engraved in order to apply adhesive when the pianos were manufactured. There is still some normal wood attached to the base. There may be some minimal chipping and hairline scratches. They can be re-purposed into any kind of artwork or project. This is real ebony wood and will sink to the bottom of a water filled glass if you wish to test the density at home. Order as many as you need for only 2.95 shipping. I believe the species is Gaboon. I also have other dimensions in stock with the occasional set of genuine antique piano key tops.

Measurements: 3.7\" base length, .45\" base width, and .45\" in height.

Diospyros crassiflora
\"The wood this particular tree produces is believed to be the blackest of all timber-producing Diospyros species, and the heartwood from this tree has been in extremely high demand since ancient Egyptian times. It is hard and durable with very fine pores, and it polishes to a high luster. It is used to make sculptures, carvings, pool cues, doorknobs, tool and knife handles, gun grips, the black keys on pianos, organ-stops, guitar fingerboards and bridges, and chess pieces. It is the wood of choice for the fingerboards, tailpieces, and tuning pegs used on all orchestral stringed instruments, including violins, violas, cellos, and double basses.
Because of its desirable qualities, the wood is over-exploited. The largest trees of this species have been harvested, except perhaps those growing in the most remote parts of its range. The International Union for Conservation of Nature classifies it as an endangered species.\"- Wikipedia
