Text in Latin. Illustrated WITH 78 SUPERB WOODCUT ILLUSTRATIONS, including 4 large woodcuts, as well as numerous fine woodcut historiated initials and a woodcut printer\'s device. OPENING PAGE OF TEXT FINELY ILLUMINATED by an early 16th-century Flemish (?) artist, and some of the woodcuts are partially hand-colored.

Boethius\' text printed within the commentary (Expositio in librum Boethii De consolatione philosophiae) traditionally attributed to Thomas Aquinas, but actually written by Thomas Waleys, an early 14th-century Dominican and master of theology at Oxford, presumably a Welshman.
