Thick 8vo in early/period boards and vellum spine, the spine with the volume title and year written in an early hand (and misspelled \"Maggazine\"); 748 + [16] pp. (erratic pagination); in-text tables, woodcut decorations and illustrations.

An early volume of this mighty organ of the Age of Enlightenment, the first and longest-running \"magazine\" in the modern sense, which began publication in 1731.

Binding rubbed, bumped and worn at the corners; the volume title-page and preface bound in before the Supplement; lacking four leaves of text (pp. 271-2, 327-8, 395-96, 445-46); several leaves coming loose at the gutter with resulting browning and wear to the fore-edges; text block with occasional mild browing; otherwise quite clean and sound, complete as per contents noted above. Front paste-down with the engraved armorial bookplate of J. Comyns, Wood [Devon].
