1828 O.111 R4 Square Base 2 Small 8\'s Large LettersCapped Bust half dollar, PCGS AU55.A very tough die variety in AU or better. This one is crusty, original and with very bold, creamy luster, and it displays just a hint of light wear. If it weren\'t for the somewhat mottled toning, this would likely havegraded a notch higher, and thus would have easily fallen within the condition census. As it is, it doesn\'t miss that honor by much! We owned the finest known of this variety some years back...the Elton Dosier coin, then graded PCGS MS63. That same coin resides today in the collection of Dr. Charles Link (Chuck to his many friends), resting comfortably in its PCGS MS64 holder. At the time we transferred it to Chuck, it was the only known Unc example. Today, two Unc\'s are accounted for.
