Very rare and beautiful, original 1860's McLoughlin Brothers Complete and Uncut Set of Hand Colored Children's Paper Dolls titled “Nellie North" from the "Paper Dolls in Book Form / Series No. 3".
This fantastic, Paper Doll Set features the original, uncut, single sided Doll figure who's card measures approx. 3 3/8" by 6 1/2" tall. The Set includes the original uncut Paper Doll Figure card and 6 uncut single sided panels with all five outfits, all 4 hats and both lace collars as well as the original, illustrated folder packaging. The Paper Doll and the outfits are all uncut although some of the panels are separated at the vertical fold lines. This Set can be found illustrated on page 131 (figure No. 95) in Marian B. Howard's classic reference titled "Those Fascinating Paper Dolls".
This Set came to us as part of a small but outstanding collection of American Paper Doll Sets that we will be offering for sale at our weekly sales over the next few weeks. They are some of the nicest Sets of 19th century Paper Dolls that we have had the pleasure to own over the past 35+ years and we offer them here, as always, without reserve.
This very rare and original, 1860's Nellie North Uncut Paper Doll Set is in very good condition. The Paper Doll Card and all six of the panels that contain the elements of the Set are well preserved - clean and crisp with no staining, soiling, creases, wear, damage or repairs of any kind. As stated above the some of the interior panels are separated at the folds. The Set comes with the complete, original folder which is edge worn and has staining on the front cover and some surface thinning on the rear cover.
