The blade is scratched with oxidation. It is marked on the hilt on one side MADE BY AMES MFG CHICOPEE, MASS, the other what appears to be US - G.W.C. - 1864. The sword single edge is not sharp and the very tip is blunt. Also note the very end of the scabbard has separated and scabbard is in two pieces. All the following measurements are approximate. The total length in scabbard is 40 INCHES and the blade length measured from hilt to tip is 32 INCHES. It will make a great addition to your military collection or an excellent piece for historical display.
