Exceptionally rare and fantastic, 1880\'s Large Size Diamond Dye Advertising Display Cabinet with a beautiful, Chromolithograph Tin Advertising Sign insert manufactured by the premier American maker of Tin Lithograph Advertising Signs - Wells & Hope of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The cabinet is known to collectors as the Diamond Dye Fairy Cabinet and the Wells & Hope Tin Litho insert sign features a central image of a beautiful winged fairy surmounted by cupid / putti figures and surrounded by various scenes of children and adults using diamond dyes, paints and inks. The example offered here is in fantastic, original condition!!


This outstanding, wood case Diamond Dye \"Fairy\" Advertising Country Store Display Cabinet measures approx. 31\" tall and is 22\" by 10 1;/2\" at the base. The stunningly beautiful, Tin Lithograph insert panel measures approx. 18\" by 24\" and is signed by the manufacturer - Wells & Hope of Philadelphia. As an American Advertising Sign, this insert panel is a work of are in its own right. The intricate and exceptionally beautiful lithography is among the finest examples the artistry of Wells and Hope. If this were a framed advertising sign it would be a multi thousand dollar item!!!


The Tin Lithograph insert features a central image of a beautiful female winged fairy communing with nature - perhaps gathering the colors of nature for the dyes. Above there are winged cupids and along the bottom edge images scenes of children \"Using the Diamond Paints\" and \"Making Ink From the Diamond Dyes\". At the upper left hand corner is an image of a family around a flax wheel with text that reads \"Yarns, Carpet, Rags Colored with Diamond Dyes\". At the upper right a scene of a Mother and her Children dying fabric with text that reads \"Dresses, Coats, Fancy Work Colored with Diamond Dyes\". Even one of the Cupids holds up a colored egg with text that reads \"Color Easter Eggs\"!!!


The interior of the Cabinet is fitted with numerous cubby holes where the various types and colors of Diamond Dyes would have been stored and this insert is intact and well preserved, The Cabinet retains the original, sliding doors on the back side.


This very rare and exceptionally beautiful, Wells & Hope Diamond Dyes Advertising Cabinet is in excellent condition. The wood surfaces retain their original finish and while there is some staining and moisture rings on the very top of the Cabinet, the remainder of the surface features a rich warm and very attractive surface patina. The Tin Litho Advertising panel is original and in excellent condition. There is no loss to the lithography and the colors are rich and warm. There is a VERY light and quite uniform age toning to the lithography as it typical of this Sign but there is no surface oxidation, scratches, no scuffing and no significant surface wear or damage of any kind. The surface is stable and well preserved with no flaking or crazing. As stated above the Cabinet retains the original sliding doors on the back and is complete with no repairs or restorations. Overall this wonderful Diamond Dye \"Fairy\" Advertising Cabinet is exceptionally well preserved and displays beautifully.
