Here\'s a 125-year-old Lancaster \"Extra Special\" half-plate camera with a polished mahogany body, black leather bellows, a Lancaster lens and an early and an early, removable Thornton Pickard curtain shutter.Camera is original throughout, and its condition is good. The mahogany is in nice shape, and the wood\'s finish is original still smooth to the touch. The underside of the front bed exhibits a drying/aging separation that\'s typical of Lancaster cameras, but the structural integrity of the bed is still excellent. Original brass fittings and hardware exhibit moderate tarnish consistent with age and authenticity. There\'s a repaired hairline crack in the upper right corner of the glass focusing plate, but the lens is clear, and it still throws a sharp image on the glass. The curtain shutter will need to be rebuilt.The camera has a triple extension bed, thus the name \"Extra Special.\" The bellows exhibit normal edge and corner wear, as you can see, but they still retreat easily into the camera\'s body when the camera is closed. The bellows are probably not light tight, and the camera is being offered here for historical and/or display purposes only.Shipping weight will be about 12 lb.That\'s about it.
