Description

Here is an original 1890s ANTIQUE Crescent No. 25 REAR STEER 2-person tandem bicycle made by CRESCENT BICYCLES (Western Wheel Works) of Chicago, IL. This was made long before WWII and is a TURN OF THE CENTURY bicycle! If you like amazingly fun HARD TO FIND vintage original tandem bikes, this may be a great bike for you. With the insanely high price of gas (and the economy being bad) now is the time to ride a cool vintage bike!

*The bike is AMAZINGLY cool and FUN! It has the cool butted tubing rear steer frame with the steering rods and everything in place. It is designed for the man to navigate from the rear and the wife or passenger to sit in the front. You have NO idea how much fun this really is until you ride it! It has vintage cruiser tandem handlebars front and rear, original forks, cool CRESCENT No. 25 Chicago head badge, cruiser seats front and rear, (front is a heavy spring, may be original. Rear is newer) full fenders, (they are often missing) 3 piece front cranks, single rear, newer Schwinn? pedals, and more! The bike has more modern wheels so it could be ridden and enjoyed. (antique 28\" wheel are out there and not hard to find if you ever want to make it more original) The HARD to find stuff is here! This one even has an antique \"pants clip\" included! (see pics, an accessory of the time)

*I bought this bike a number of years ago at the Memory Lane bicycle swap meet in Ohio. I looked for one for a very long time and was super happy to find it! I added another bike to my personal collection so I decided to let this one go. (not sure why?!) My daughter and I have had some great times on this one! Peoples jaws drop when you ride by and a younger person is on the front. I rode it in the park myself a couple times and got even crazier looks! I saw a guy ride a Colson balloon tire rear steer bike this summer and he had a large Kermit the frog sitting on the front. The FUN is endless with this one! Imagine riding this in a parade?!

*Tandem bikes are SO MUCH FUN! You and your sweetie can enjoy a ride through the park together! Also a great way to take a younger person for an enjoyable ride! A fun activity for you and your best friend!!! Would even make the COOLEST gift for that Newlywed couple! CHRISTMAS is coming up very fast and this a wonderful gift vs a disposable electronic device. This is one you can ride and enjoy or you could make it original again without a ton of work. The choice is yours. IF YOU EVER thought about owning one of these, DO NOT MISS OUT! These almost never come up available for sale. Few were made and most bikes of this era were scrapped during the \"WWII Scrap drives\" (do a google search on that when you have time)

*DIMENSIONS The FRONT rider dimensions... The stand over height is approx 32\". The distance from the center of the crank to the top of the seat post clamp is approx 22\". The center of the handlebar stem to the center of the seat post is approx 19 3/4\". REAR rider dimensions... The standover height is approx 34\". The distance from the floor to the top of the seat post clamp is approx 34 1/2\". The distance from the center of the crank to the top of the seat post clamp is approx 23 1/2\". The center of the handlebar stem to the center of the seat post is approx 19 1/2\". The bike will accommodate most any rider comfortably. The seat height is easy to adjust.

*The tires are 26x1 1/4\". They are vintage tires and do hold air. The bike has chrome rims front and rear. The rear is very old with a Mussleman hub. (Cleveland Ohio) Front appears to be a more modern Schwinn rim/wheel.

*The bike is an original SINGLE SPEED with coaster brakes. (pedal slightly backwards to stop the bike)

*NOTED FLAWS It is not 100% flawless but is not bad considering its age. I am sure this one was repainted at some point. The chrome is shiney but is not perfect show quality. Both wheels have a slight wobble when you spin them. This one does have some modern parts. (see pics and be your own expert) The important stuff is here! NOT trying to nit pick this fun bike, just like to be honest. I took LOTS of pics so you can see the overall condition easily. This is a hard to find USA made bicycle that will only go UP in value if you take good care of it! If you click on any of the pics they get very large to show lots of detail. Please take a look at all pics for exact condition and email with any questions before you offer.

*FEW tandem bikes from this era exist. They were expensive when new and only the affluent people were able to own them. VERY few rear steer tandem bicycle were sold and are almost non-existant these days! For the antique/vintage bicycle collector who thought they had them all. I sincerely hope someone out there can truly appreciate this bike! You will have the COOLEST vintage bike around!

*A NOTE IN REGARDS TO SHIPPING! This bike will ship in TWO separate boxes due to the very large size. (the frame etc will be double oversize) FREE LOCAL PICKUP is always an option. I CANNOT ship anywhere outside of the lower 48 USA states. I do not have a buy it now price so please do not ask. ENJOY THIS COOL BIKE!

*Why not ride a bike? You will live longer, feel better, and save $$$ vs of the insanely high cost of gasoline. If you are looking for a fun bike to ride and enjoy this may be it! A nice bike to cruise the beach or your local park! Priced way less than a dime store bike that wont be around 5 years from now, much less 30+ years like this one! Please give this bike a good home and DON\'T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY! Classic bikes are very cool because not everyone on the block has one! People love to see and talk about and ride these classic bikes! They are more popular now than ever before!

*This may be a great WEDDING gift, birthday gift, or other special holiday gift for someone! It is never too soon to think ahead and get someone something they may really like!! This starts reasonably with ABSOLUTELY so offer early and don\'t miss out! These are getting to be hard to find in any condition and to my knowledge, have not been reproduced.

*Sold as is simply because it is used. I try my very best to describe as accurately as possible and disclose anything I am aware of about the bike. PLEASE NOTE that many of the bikes I list have listed have been in long term storage and have not been regularly ridden in a while.(not a bad thing) They may need standard tuning, greasing, may have old tires, surface rust etc. I try to be as honest as possible and never want to disappoint anyone. If you have any questions regarding any specific things concerning the bike, please feel feel to ASK via emali before you offer. Keep in mind you are offerding on a 30+ year old bike that is not a brand new bicycle so it may need minor tuning, cables or cable adjustment, if tires are original, they may or may not have sidewall cracks, etc. I try to be as honest as I can and disclose anything I know about the bike. I want you to be happy with your new vintage purchase but please understand the bike may need some tlc to be road ready.

*By offerding please understand that you are purchasing a used bicycle that may or may not need tlc. If I notice an issue, I always try to note it in the sale listing. I want you to be excited about your new bike and hope you really enjoy your new vintage ride for years to come. Be sure to check out all pics and email with any questions you may have before you offer regarding condition, mechanical items, etc.
