Beautiful and very rare, original 1890’s Staffordshire Flow Blue Pitcher with Advertising for Crawford Stoves & Ranges which were manufactured by Walker & Pratt of Boston, Massachusetts.
This beautiful, Flow Blue Advertising Pitcher measures approx. 4 1/2” tall and 4 1/2\" from lip to handle. The Pitcher has a wonderful, deep and rich flow blue surface decoration featuring elaborate flourishes surrounding large text that reads “Crawford Cooking Ranges”. The Pitcher carries the mark of the Upper Hanley Pottery Co. of Staffordshire, England and is believed to be the earliest design of this Crawford Stoves and Ranges Pitcher that was manufactured having been made between 1895 (when Upper Hanley Pottery Co. was established) and 1900 (when the company moved its factory).
We have handled a few examples of the Crawford Advertising Pitcher over the past 35+ years but all that we have seen were manufactured later in the United States and we have never seen an example featuring the deep and rich Staffordshire Flow Blue surface that decorates the example offered here.
This fantastic, Flow Blue Staffordshire Advertising Pitcher is in excellent condition. The Pitcher is clean and crisp - it is exceptionally well preserved and displays beautifully as can be seen in the scans below. There is no wear to the surface - no scratches or scuffs There is no physical damage or repairs of any kind - no chips, no cracks, no repairs and no physical damage of any kind.
