Wonderful, ca1900 Cast Iron, \"999\" Floor Train Locomotive with matching coal tender manufactured by the Harris Toy Company of Toledo, Ohio. This early, turn of the 20th century, Cast Iron Railroad Train Engine measures 10” long x 4 1/4\" tall x 2 1/4\" wide. The separate Coal Tender measures approx 5\" long x 2 1/4\" tall x 2 1/4\" wide and has the number \"999\" cast into both sides All of the wheels of both the Engine and the Tender turn and are original.
This rare and very attractive, Harris Cast Iron Train Engine and Coal Tender displays in very good condition but does have some damage. It Locomotive and tender retain approx. 90%+ of their original black surface paint and gold gilt highlights except for the wheels of the locomotive which exhibit significant paint loss (see the scans below). The body of the Locomotive has damage at the back end with loss to the cast iron behind each of the back drive wheels and loss of the rear post of the back window on the left hand side of the cab. The Tender has no damage or repairs.
